September is Happy Cat Month! Our feline friends should always be happy, healthy, and loved. However, this is a great time to make your cute pet feel extra special. Why not spoil Fluffy a bit? A local Dutchess County, NY vet offers some tips on how to do that below.
Did you know that cats can sleep up to 20 hours a day? (We’re not entirely convinced that Fluffy actually needs quite that much rest, but that’s besides the point.) Make sure your drowsy ball of fur has plenty of comfy spots to curl up in!
Proper nutrition is a cornerstone for any good pet care routine. Offer your kitty the best food you can afford. Ask your vet for specific advice.
Your feline buddy will be both safer and healthier staying inside. However, she will appreciate having a comfy window seat, so she can relax and spy on birds and squirrels.
It really doesn’t take much to turn your home into a luxury palace for a kitty. Set out some pet-safe plants for Fluffy, and offer her cardboard boxes and paper bags to nose around in. A good scratching post or board is also a must.
Cats seem to be perpetually exhausted. However, Fluffy can’t spend all of her time snoozing. Make sure your kitty has some ways to amuse herself when she is awake. Toys are a must, but your furball will also appreciate having some nooks and crannies to investigate, and furniture to play on.
Our feline companions are very clean, which is one of the many reasons they are such ‘purrfect’ little pets. Fluffy likes her litterbox clean, and who can blame her? We recommend scooping daily, and replacing the litter about once a week.
It’s easy to joke about how cats are cold and calculated, but at the end of the day, they really are quite affectionate. Fluffy will definitely be happier if she feels loved and safe. Pay lots of attention to your furry pal! Talk to her, pet her, and play with her. You may very well find that the more you interact with Fluffy, the more interactive she becomes.
